My friends kept trying to drag me to 1849 but I thought “how could a place on Bleecker Street be that good”? Boy was I wrong. You walk in and immediately see the lounge like atmosphere with all the red velvet couches and chairs. Luckily we got there early because it really filled up later. My friends came to watch the game on the big screen TVs but I just wanted to eat and drink. We all ordered something different and shared. The 20 cent wings are the best bargain in NY and the nachos were gigantic. I ordered the penne a la vodka and took half of it home since it was such a huge plate. My friends burger was really juicy and also really big. Everyone seemed to be going for the beer specials but I ordered a Merlot which was very good for a bar wine. I actually got into the spirit and watched the game too. When the check came it was much lower than any other place around for what we got. The service actually wasn’t bad considering how many people came all at the same time for the game. I’ve been back many times since that first night and I always leave happy. Check it out for yourself.

great atmosphere.
the manager is an idiot.
these people run off more business than they keep.
until they change management....don't go.

Just how bad is this place? We ordered seven plates of food and 15-20 drinks and they still refused to serve us water with our food. After waiting about an hour to speak to a manager about the policy, the waitress finally brought one glass of water. We still wanted to speak to the manager, but Marium was "nowhere to be found" from 9pm til 11:30pm "because its a slow night," the waitress said. Funny, because we were told the "no water" policy was specifically to prevent the bar from being crowded with people who weren't spending money. But the bar wasn't crowded and we were spending money and they wouldn't give us water. W-a-t-e-r, water. The waitress finally had the bouncer get Marium on the walkie-talkie and he promised he was on his way back to bar. I'm sure you can guess whether he showed up. I always wondered why more people didn't turn up for happy hour at 1849. Now I know.
