I liked the former name of "Railway Cafe" but I have a few favorites on the menu. I like the baked haddock with a Panko bread crumb topping, and I usually order a small Caesar salad with either Italian or ranch dressing. Actually, that's not really a Caesar salad, but it has the Romaine, parmesan and croutons. I like the croutons. They're tasty and crunchy, not stale. I also like the cabbage and cheeseburger soup specials. In the past, I've ordered the haddock chowder to take to a relative who lived in the neighboring town of Woolwich, a short distance over the Dresden line. She had health problems and she welcomed anything that she could reheat in the microwave or on the stove. She was grateful for things that made her life easier, and making it possible for her to live independently and remain in her home. It was also a way of checking on her, as she lived alone. Anyway, she loved the chowder, and chowder is definitely a staple here in Maine with all the fresh seafood at our disposal. I like the custard and fruit pies, but I prefer them baked in a traditional pie plate, not the deep dish kind. They do have some mini-pies that are not deep dish. They did have one chocolate cake that I liked with a light, fluffy, whipped cream topping but they haven't had it since. In the past, another diner used to call it torte cake. I asked about it, but they didn't seem to be sure of what I was talking about, or at least not the way I was describing it. They also have quesadilla about once a week as a special that's very good to take home and reheat the next day. It's also listed on their regular menu as either chicken or cheese quesadilla, but they have a variety of different fillings that are flavorful when it's one of their specials. They serve breakfast on the weekend. I rarely get over there for breakfast, but I've had one of their
omelettes with cheddar cheese and spinach and it was very good. The last time I was there for breakfast, they were very busy. I don't know what they use for English muffins, but they're much tastier and easier on the palate than the ones I've been buying in the store. Also, I can think of one special in particular that was either a boneless chicken breast or thigh that had a topping of cheese, tomato, spinach and perhaps bacon. It was delicious.

Amazing food!
I dont know who their Chef is, but his daily offerings are that of 5 Star! Yet at a 3 star price. The flavors are outstanding! Review the menu, then consider the daily specials, freshness, and flavor doesn't get any better.

Your Haddock dinner WEDNESDAY special is my most favorite! I savve up for a treat for myself once a month! Your homemade breads and desserts are especially splendifor'us'. Your staff are amazing and always are smiling 'n you always get a free one to go! Take care of yourselves. As The BFG says, "The are ucky mucky times." Can't wait to be able to come in again, gets cold havin' to wait outside in my wheelchair. God Bless all of Yooz!
