After a long COVID wait, Pie R Squared is open again, yay! But wait, red onions on Hawaiian? Green Onions on Hawaiian? Hawaiian should never have onions, ever. I like onions, but they interfere with the mixture of sweet pineapple and salty ham. Clearly, whoever is in charge now is unaware of the delicate flavour balance of this Canadian classic. Also, the crust today was like thin biscotti, dry as marble, and crumbly. I was covered in fine dust and crumbs afterwards, as if I had been sanding drywall. Please bring back the old, old, Pie R recipes from before the days of The Nest. And no red or green onions of the Hawaiian!
