That Kambo's is *still* an integral part of South Gate's Tweedy Shopping District , is nothing short of amazing !
Walking inside is like travelling back in time to circa 1962 , and their menu prices reflect this (at least they did from 1994-2001 when I frequented it)
One of the best things about Kambo's upon my initial visit in early '94 was that it was still a smoker-friendly establishment ; and on that cold January afternoon , that was especially welcoming !
My friend and I found it while we were going to Greenspan's . With some time to waste while he was having his recently-purchased Derby stretched-to-fit . I think our bill for 2 coffees (and bottomless refills)and two servings of sourdough toast came to less than $3.00 (plus a 100% tip to the excellent server).
It's too bad that I'm trapped out here in the I.E. , otherwise I'd visit Kambo's A LOT more !
