Anyone who knows me knows I was excited to try this place for its spooky vibes and menu.
Unfortunately, I moved before getting the chance to do so.
During a much needed trip home this weekend, my husband swung over to The Witching Hour to grab some food for us before we left. I was so excited!
The fries were good. They really were.
The issue came when I bit into the burger. The components of the burger were good but something was off. I thought it was a sauce at first but after a little directing, I realized it was the patty itself. It tasted the was an old deep freeze smells! I don't know what seasonings are used or if they tried something different that day but there was almost a soapy flavor that was incredibly unflattering. I had a few people that I was with give it a try and they all agreed that it was off.
I left a comment on Facebook to bring the flavor to the attention of the owner and he immediately started calling me a liar, told me I was just echoing, "my friends" (I guess others had made the same remarks that had eaten there around the same time), and told me to, "enjoy my mcdonalds," before blocking me and making a post on the page claiming that people are being mean and he would just be mean back to, "match their energy." Then his mother took to the reviews.
I went through the comments and all of the negative reviews seem to have been around the same weekend.
One reviewer even left screenshots of the owner threatening him and calling him obscenities.
While the fries were good, maybe not good enough to come from 4 hours away but good enough to get when I visit. However, the attitude of the owner has put me off forever. It's very disappointing considering I was so excited to eat here.
