I usually stay nearby when traveling north for business and enjoy trying new dishes each visit. The breakfast selection is decent, but some flavors may need a little more seasoning. The atmosphere is cozy, service is excellent, and the michigans are a must-try.

Prices high for portions. Everything is an additional cost even with higher prices. Was there 2 hours for simple breakfasts. Staff congregated behind bar and didn't help each other. Wait staff didn't seem to know when they got a table. Probably won't return.

I have eaten at Gus's Red Hots before and food and service were excellent. However, yesterday fried chicken was just plain horrible. Either freezer burn or most likely over fried. Was dried and barely palatable. Plus I don't know what kind of chicken, but small to the point of ridiculous. Certainly not worth the $. We live in Champlain, so it is a close eatery. Will be back eventually.

I first visited Gus's in 1959 when I was 17 yrs old.
The Michigans were great then as now. At that time, the price was about 50 cents. Still a great value and taste. French fries are crisp and tasty. Gus's is mainly for lunch and dinner. I wouldn't count the breakfast as their best.

Right near the Grand Isle - Plattsburgh Ferry on Lake Champlain. Famous for their red hots with Michigan sauce similar to meat chili. Ordered it without and still came with it so had to send it back. Sides of potato salad and cole slaw just ok. Not worth the stop if passing through.
