This old school tavern, dating back to 1797 and once a stagecoach stop, has a great vibe with friendly staff and a menu full of tasty options like pulled pork, wood-fired pizza, and fresh salads. I grabbed takeout and enjoyed everything from the generous calamari to the flavorful sandwiches, plus the local beers and cozy atmosphere make it a perfect chill spot for lunch or dinner.

I went for dinner at the Hillsdale House last night by myself and sat at the bar. I felt completely comfortable, as if I was at Cheers. I had the Italian night special, ziti with a pork ragu (Chicken & Pork). So good. Portion was big, and it came with a salad and a nice toasted italian bread and a sundried tomato and red pepper flakes butter spread. I also couldn't resist the shoestring onion rings, served with a side of ranch dressing. Oh and the eclaire's were fantastic. Everything was delicious! The people beside me came for dessert and gave the chocolate cake a 2 thumbs up. Apparently all desserts are home made. On the other side was a man who comes every Monday night for their Burger & Beer special for $10. They have all the local beers on tap to choose from. I'll definitely be back -- I want to try the Chicken special on Thursdays which I've heard great things about.
