my wife and I just ate at the firehouse and here's what happened. being the day before st. patrick's day we called and asked if they had corned beef and they said they had corned beef dinners, corned beef on a bun and reuben sandwiches - in short lots of corned beef. we arrived and ordered 2 corned beef dinners and a bottle of wine, and when they arrived, without having even tasted the brown meat before us, we said this looks like brisket, and after tasting it that was confirmed. we told the waitress and she agreed, and she asked the kitchen and they agreed, but not without a cockamamie story that they do an special in-house healthy version and that explained the discrepancy. we were told they would comp us the meals, and being reasonable people we said comp us one and we'll pay for the other. after we finished the meals they then told us we had to pay for both because we'd eaten everything - so much for the comp! our favorite waiter (not our waitress at the time) came over and offered us a piece of cake as a peace offering because he knew we'd been shafted. we have eaten there many times, and once before the management tried to defend an inferior serving of prime rib, and after waiting a very long, long, long time after complaining, the wait staff had to intercede the management and rectify things, but only after one of our meals had become stone cold. with this in mind, we paid the bill and told them we would never eat there again which is too bad, because it's a good enough place, except when they screw up and won't fix things
