Osaka in Huntington offers an incredible dining experience with its flavorful fried rice and fresh sushi that truly stands out. The staff is attentive and friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere that feels intimate and comfortable. With a variety of delicious options, including unique rolls and tasty appetizers, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Japanese cuisine.

After waiting for Osaka to reopen, I just went and had the worst restaurant experience in my life. Interestingly, what happened echoes the experience of another reviewer (who said the manager took away sushi because it was deemed too much). There is something very odd going on. My daughter ordered a kani roll (pretty basic). Because she is on a diet, she asked that it be wrapped in cucumber. The waitress and manager came over and told me that this request would cause the price of the roll to double in price. I was annoyed but since we were starving and it was 19 degrees out, we decided to go along with it. Perhaps it is my fault, but after 35 years of eating sushi I figured how expensive could a kani roll wrapped in cucumber be. I figured, tops, $14.00 dollars for what is usually a $7.00 roll. Imagine my surprise when I got the check and the price was $25.00 . The manager said she should've charged $30.00 because it took extra labor and there is a bit extra food. I told her that we didn't want extra food, that all we wanted was a cucumber wrap. I explained there is no roll--lobster, toro, whatever--that I have seen at that price. I told her that it is quite common, with people on different diets to request sushi be wrapped in any of the following: black rice, soy, or cucumber and that it never is an issue. She argued with me that this is a business and threw the check at me and demanded that I pay this ridiculous price. I told her that I would not be coming back. I told her that she would alienate many of her dieting customers, which would be a problem since the neighboring building is a bariatric surgery center. To confirm that I am not crazy, I stopped by Tings, in Huntington, on the way home. I asked if they can wrap their sushi in cucumber. They said they do it all the time, are doing it as we speak for several patrons, that there is a key on the register to specify this, and that there is an up charge of $3 per roll--just as I told the manager at Osaka.

I don't get it. I told the manager that I was disatisfied and that all my friends in Huntington, Commack, Fort Salonga, Northport--particularly those who are dieting--are going to hear about this experience and avoid Osaka. I have never been so annoyed after eating at a restaurant. I have never had a manager be so non-accomodating and with such an outrageous attitude. Instead of having a nice dining experience, I am still agitated hours later. It's not the money, per se, it's the feeling of being taken advantage of and seeing no interest or concern about my continued patronage. The entire experience is surreal... I keep telling people the manager at Osaka insisted on charging me $25.00 for a kani roll wrapped in cucumber and they think I'm kidding!!! I feel like an idiot but I didn't want to create any more of a scene than I did. I am a reasonable person who understands business and has dined all over the country and Europe and I don't remember encountering such a situation.
