I've been a fan of Rita's Dairy Bar since I was a child, drawn in by their consistent service, affordable prices, and delicious ice cream offerings. During my recent visit, I indulged in a small twist in a cup, filled with nostalgia and flavors that never disappoint. A GIANT RIP-OFF. On Mother's Day, we stopped by for some cones. I ordered 4 small twists. I go to pay, and they say it's $7.50...but that's not enough of an order to pay with my offered credit card. No big deal (although I don't like getting punished for paying with a form of payment they advertise is okay); so I tell them to make them all regulars. Fine. Now it's $8.50...and they tell me they have to charge 3% for using the card. Wait...I thought bumping up the order to their card minimum would eliminate the need for an extra fee. Nope. Okay, well, you're punishing me again, but it's Mother's Day; I'm not going to say no with Mom and the kids waiting. So we get our cones--pretty small for over 2 bucks a pop--and guess what we find at the bottom of each after driving out of town? NOTHING. No ice cream. Empty. So...I had to pay more than I ordered; I had to pay an additional fee for that extra ice cream I didn't want....and then I didn't get the extra ice cream? Jesus what a clip joint. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!
