Ordered oysters lightly fried. If this was lightly, regular fried must be rocks! The rest of the meal was great! Service spot on! Give it a try.

We have had several large family gatherings at Southern Family Restaurant and the wait staff, food, parking and overall experience was great. We always feel comfortable eating there and come away satisfied. Prices are very reasonable.

Southern Family is the local gathering place for those that enjoy home cooked Southern style dining. For starters, they excel at serving some of the best Calabash style seafood anywhere. Flounder, shrimp, oysters, and scallops are all great. However, the crab cakes appear to be pre-made (frozen?) and are lacking in flavor.
In addition, SF serves better than average spaghetti and lasagna.
Those not favoring seafood or Italian dishes can opt for a wide variety of favorites including Country Chicken, Marinated Beef Strips, Teriyaki Sirloin Tips, and many others. In addition, SF offers an adequate selection of sandwiches. My favorite is the Smoked Turkey Breast.
New comers need to understand that this is Southern regional style cooking which the locals really enjoy. If you are looking for 5 Star gourmet dining, you need to go elsewhere.

I live in the area about two years and finally tried this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised. This place has great seafood for a very reasonable price. It is always prepared just right too. Never overdone. My husband tried the steak and liked it also. The place is very family oriented and there are a lot of senior citizens eating here at any given time. They do not serve alcohol. The menu selection is small but adequate. We now dine here on a regular basis. A great diamond in the rough.

For the price, you can't beat this place. Good seafood, wide variety of entrees, VERY good service, nice family atmosphere. Warning: servings are LARGE, but you can order smaller servings of many items.

Hours: M-F 11am-9pm,Sat 4pm-9pm Sun 11am-2:30pm
