My name is Janelle and I’m presently sitting in Jac’s Grill hurt, frustrated and humiliated by the treatment I’ve received. I ordered a 10oz Rib-eye dinner, Raspberry Kiss Martini and a Lemon Drop Martini.

The first drink was really sweet, I stated so but I finished the drink. The second drink-the lemon drop tasted like sour mix and I could not stomach it. I did not drink the lemon drop and asked for it to be removed from the bill. I was then told alcohol couldn’t be removed and I’d have to pay the full bill. After which I stated that there wasn’t even an offer to remake the drink. The server (Jeremy) then told me they don’t re-make drinks just because someone doesn’t like it. I then asked for the manager. Jeremy walked away and then came back and said the owner was gone and he was the manager. I asked him to use his managerial authority to remove the drink or provide another. He again refused to remove the drink, make the drink over or provide any remedy to correct. I asked about multiple options. I then asked for the authorities to be called as I could not fathom the treatment I was receiving and being forced to pay for something I didn't consume. The police then came and Jeremy proceeded to lie. He stated that I was irate and raising my voice, which is far from the truth. That’s precisely the reason I asked for the person in charge and then the police. I don’t believe in futile arguments and surely would not embarrass myself in an establishment being irate with anyone.

Jeremy told the police he had videos and recordings of me raising my voice and being irate. I asked him to pull them so the officers could see and hear my disposition. Needless to say, he double backed on the recordings and said he couldn’t pull anything because they were in the middle of serving.

As the only black woman in the bar area, I was absolutely treated differently. Not only did Jeremy refuse to remake a drink, he lied to the police. He said he offered to remake the drink and lied about my disposition. When I asked for his name he said “Jermey”. When I asked for the last name he said “For what so you can lie on Yelp.” I will never return to this restaurant and encourage others to boycott this restaurant as well.

I truly hope this is not how all people of color are treated at Jac’s.
