Considering reintroducing this establishment as "Payless Food and Cafeteria" because it lacks the cafeteria aspect, it seems more like a corner store with limited offerings. The hidden cafeteria in the back, adjacent to the meat counter, provides a cozy space for customers to enjoy their meals. I particularly enjoy the steak, egg, and cheese sandwich with fries for lunch, with the bread pressed in a panini style typical of Humboldt Park sandwiches. The fried pork chops are a standout dish, reminiscent of homemade cooking. The prices are budget-friendly, attracting a local crowd, especially around 11 am, but the atmosphere is welcoming and communal.
