Where to even start with this train wreck? We went out to eat in the El Rancho "dinning room" this evening. What a disaster. It's a very, very bad attempt at "fine dining".

The first problem is that it's over crowded. The tables are packed in so tight, you can barely maneuver between them. The lighting was horrible, and dark; very outdated decor and furniture.

The second issue was that it took more than 30 minutes just for a server to show up at our table. We had reservations for a group of about 15, so we were pretty well committed to staying. We were actually told that they had to take care of the non-reservation tables first before taking our orders. Seriously?

Moving on; we finally got our orders in and I got the salad bar with my $20 12 oz prime rib. This restaurant is apparently so concerned with saving money, that the salad plates were actually bread-and-butter plates; you know, the little 6" ones? Unbelievable. The salad bar itself was completely unlit, so you couldn't see anything under the canape, and it was such an utter filthy mess. All the ladles were covered in dressing, and sauces, and food mixed together. Just awful.

When I finally got my entree (12 oz med-rare prime rib with au gratin potatoes), it wasn't anywhere near med-rare (over done), they actually put canned freaking green beans on my plate (yes, my $20 steak came with canned beans!), the au jus was clearly from a powder mix, and my au gratin potatoes were, get this; cheesy breakfast hashbrowns!

I'm so horrified that a restaurant of such epic failure can possibly stay in business. They better be thanking their lucky stars they are one of the few in a massively booming town, because they wouldn't last a day in the real world.

I myself will never return to that train wreck.
