The only thing giving this review 2 stars is our server, Brad. I would give him a 95% for service. He was very friendly and attentive.

Now, unfortunately, to the negative. I worked in the restaurant business for many years, mainly as a hostess in fine dining, so my review is based on my experience. We walked in and asked to sit on the patio. There was no space which was fine. Hostess 1, whose appearance was beyond lacking as she looked like she was going to a concert with her shredded baggy jeans and rapper t-shirt, asked us if we wanted to sit in the booth in the corner, as she gestured to the back of the restaurant. I asked if we could have a table because we would be needing a high chair. She proceeded to say, "So yeah, the booth in the corner". I expressed again that we needed a table and more specifically stating, not a booth. She walked away with no response and went to go put 2 tables together. The tables she was putting together were right in front of the patio door. We asked to not be seated right in front of the door. She again walked away with no response and began to put 2 different tables together. Hostess 2 came back up to the front and we questioned why they were trying to seat us in front of the patio door. She proceeded to explain about the server sections and about how they can't just put any 2 tables together, which is understandable but didn't explain why we were being seated in front of the patio door when there were plenty of other tables to seat us at. When hostess 1 was done putting the tables together, hostess 2 said that we could go sit... Without showing us to our table. We asked, "So we just seat ourselves..?" and "Well yeah" was her response. After we sat ourselves, hostess 2 approached our server within earshot of our table. She began to explain to him about how difficult we were being and then apologized to him for us being his section. Our server Brad, treated us with great service and attention even though he knew he was getting at least an 18% tip because we had a party of 6 people. Towards the end of our meal, I visited the restroom with one of my kids. On our way, we pasted the host stand where 2 people had entered and were waiting to be seated. Taking my child to the restroom takes at least 5 minutes and on our way back to our table, the same 2 people were still at the front waiting to be seated. I continued to watch to see how long it would take for anyone to acknowledge these people. They stood for about 10 minutes without being greeted and when hostess 2 finally made it back to her post, the people were told to sit wherever. Upon leaving, hostess 2 was behind the host stand playing on her phone. Needless to say, we were ignored on our way out.

The food was okay. It wasn't bad but in no way was it exceptional.

1. Why do you have a host stand and hostess if people are just told to seat themselves? If you want guests to just seat themselves, then put up a sign that states this.
2. The hostess is the first thing you see when you come in and their demeaner was awful.
3. From a professional stand point, your staff should at least be wearing a Jimi D's shirt so you can assess them from the other guests. All staff members were wearing plain street clothes.

This was a very poor experience and I wish we had taken our business to some place more deserving in the Aksarben area. Needless to say, we will not be rushing back any time soon.
