I have been going to hilltop for several yrs. The food quality has gone so down hill. The food is dry, overcooked, and slow. They don't seem to know the difference between rare and med rare. They have gone to a cheaper quality of meats. Food is slow to come out ever since the new owners have taken over. They have discontinued almost all specials. The place has gone so down hill in the last yr. For a steak/bbq house they only offer 2 types of steak and 1 type of bbq chicken. ???? The rest is typical bar food. Is this a Restaurant or a bar???? There is never people in the dining area. Extremely disappointed. Will find another place to eat. Sad when a regular won't comeback

For a place to call themselves BBQ they must have never been to Texas! I've never seen Prime Rib that had the same color on both sides, that color being gray. Meaning that the meat most likely was heated up in a microwave. My husband had the sampler platter. Everything was the same the color. Now being an amateur backyard smoker, most people know that the meat will retain a pinkish color. Everything in the sampler was gray. The flavor was non-existent. There was definitely no distinction between St.Louis and Memphis style ribs. The sliced Brisket tasted like kerosene. The sides tasted better then the main menu that the restaurant has as their star billing. This was our second visit there. After being there when they first opened, and finding it lacking, we decided to try them again. Again we find it lacking. Better to spend money on an airplane ticket to go down south where they know how BBQ is done then to waste money going here. Buy the ticket!

My wife and I ate here about a year ago and the food and service was terrible. I received a resturant.com gift certificate recently and I saw that Hilltop was participating in this program. We talked it over and decided to give them another try out. We arrived around 6pm on Friday night and there were quite a few people there. When we walked in the hostess told us she would be right with us. Approx. 10 minutes later she came back and asked us how many were in our party. We told her 2 and she then grabbed the menus and was about to see us when the owner came over and said "all we have is bar seating" I told him I wanted regular seating and he said snotty it will be 20 minutes. I then looked into the restaurant and saw three double table tables and said why cant we have one of those. He said those are only for large parties. I told him, fine I'll wait for a table. He them left and went into the kitchen. The hostess then turned and said come on I'll seat you now. We were seated and started to look over the menu. My wife likes a glass of wine before dinner and could not find a listing. Our waitress came over and my wife asked her if they served wine and what kind. She replied red or white. My wife asked what kind and she said she didn't know but would find out. She came back a few minutes later and started to tell us what they had and said she couldn't remember the rest. Ok thats fine, give us a beer instead. We then told her that we were already to order and told her we had a Resturant.com certificate. She then said we don't accept them anymore. I told her that there was a sign on the front door that stated that they do and that they must be presented before ordering. She then said rudley I said we don't accept them anymore. We told her Thank you and that we were going somewhere else. While we were putting our coats on by the front door the owner came over and was giving us attitude. He said Resturant.com is a scam and that he doesn't accept them anymore. I told him about the sign on the front door and he said fine go somewhere else. What a crappy night out. We ended going somewhere else. We will never go here again. The owner is a total jerk and his wait staff is totally clueless.
