On Blackout Wednesday, we ventured to Highwood, Illinois, and found The Mean Wiener, a creatively themed Mexican-American eatery with generous portions, friendly service, and standout dishes like fish and chips, Mexican fries loaded with mole sauce, and flavorful grilled tilapia, though the elotes were overly salty and disappointing, making it a place I look forward to revisiting to explore more of their diverse menu.
