La Feast has had its ups and downs as most family owned Bistros do but on the average be prepared for an amazing treat as unlike most ME restaurants in town La Feast does it THE best, You see Mo is the owner AND the chef on most days and everything he cooks melts like butter in your mouth, He will even come out and ask you if you want this or that added (no extra cost).
He is to my knowledge the only restaurant not to use frozen falafel patties which unfortunately lose a lot of would be falafel fans who have had those pre frozen hocky pucks in other restaurants. My fave is a fresh falafel pita roll up and I request just a finger of hummus to be added, along with a piece of turnip, a pickle lettuce tomato and tahinni which I sometimes ask for on the side (a sesame based sauce). Did I say at no extra charge as well.
His veggie grape leaves are magic in your mouth and specially made by an angel just for his restaurant.
Fatoush is my fave salad made with the greenest of lettuces, his own special herbs including fresh sumic a slightly bitter but sweet and not hot ingredient found in many Egyptian dishes.
His lamb shawarma Hmmmmmmm. I love it in a roll up. Unlike much of his competition you are never served left overs from yesterday, and I am serious about this. Do not be scared by the decor, this is not your typical RO tourist ripoff of which there are unfortunately a few. Imagine being invited to lunch or dinner by a world class chef in his/her own home. This is what I experience at La Feast. Forgot to mention for you to try HIS garlic sauce if you care at all for garlic that does not bite your toungue but caresses like velvet with flavor. You eat it with only fresh baked hearth oven pita, not the rewarmed kind found in most other mid eastern places.
Service is eclectic when he is busy, but lately the waitstaff if highly attentive..

The newly re-opened La Feast in Royal Oak is the bomb. Great prices for high quality food that tastes like the real deal and not some kind of greasy middle east wanna-be. One really nice touch is the warm bread with salsa I garlic sauce with every order.
