This is Bellevue, IA, a small town 23 miles south of Dubuque and not a place likely to entertain gastronomes, however, the chef at Happy Bean is incredible!! I live in Bellevue and lament that there are so few restaurants in town worth patronizing. Then there's Happy Bean. This place should be on the map for excellence. The steak, as well as everything else, is fabulous; breakfast is fabulous; lunch is likewise!!! Prices are reasonable, food is abundant and imaginatively prepared and portions will not leave you hungry. The wine list is adequate, service good and dress code irrelevant. They get 5 stars from me!!
