I have just gotten home from their establishment. I am writing this to tell you just how dissatisfied I am with my dining experience.
I call ahead on Thursday to make a reservation for 6:00 PM on Sunday, 13 Jan, 2013. I was very specific that the dinner was a celebration which combined my wife retiring, our wedding anniversary, and her birthday. I made the reservation and before the called ended, specifically asked if the lady I talked to had gotten the information about the importance of the occasion. I was told that she had marked it down as a 'celebration'. I thanked her and ended the call.
When I got there for dinner, I identified myself by name without telling her, again, about the occasion because it was supposed to be a surprise to my wife. My wife and I were led to our table and ordered.
While we were sitting there, the couple behind my wife, at the end of their dinner, were surprised when they received something about, 'her birthday' from the waitress. After the waitress left, I heard the man say to his wife, "I wonder how they knew it was your birthday".
At that point, my wife and I had finished our dinner, so I thought I would go back to the hostess and tell her about what I had requested. When I did, her response was, "Oh, I am sorry, I thought you said your name was 'Paul'. (When I checked in with her, before we were seated, I actually told her my full name and it is nothing like 'Paul')
I wrongly assumed that after I had further identified myself to her, I would receive the benefit I had asked for and had told her that I was willing to pay extra for.
Well, even after advising her of my request before my wife and I left, nothing was done that made the dinner 'special' for my wife.
Upon leaving, I again told the hostess that I was disappointed that she had upset our 'celebration', again her only response was, "I am sorry".
I feel that after the drive from Fresno to eat at their establishment, after requesting and confirming that 'something special' would be done, after advising the hostess prior to pay the bill - and still not receiving anything for my requests, the whole experience could have been handled with more than, "I am sorry".
Although the dinner was ok although overpriced by local standards, my experience does not make it worth my while to take the time to do it again.
I would be interested in your response!
Thank you
