The atmosphere here is really unique and cozy, with dim lighting that sets a relaxing mood for some good conversations. The service was excellent, and the attention to detail in the drinks was a nice touch. Despite a slight hiccup at the door, the overall experience was great, and I'll definitely be coming back for more.

I live walking distance to Merc Bar and tried to go there this evening with friends that work in the local estate industry. Personally, I have worked as an attorney in Phoenix for 20 years. Since it was still September 2 in Phoenix and over 90 degrees, I was in a button down shirt, nice shorts, and nice sandals. The doorman informed us that he had to turn us away since I was in sandals. To be fair to the doorman, he seemed to understand the ridiculousness of the situation. We took our friends to the Flynn, which was more than willing to take our business.

I have family from New York, undoubtably a cosmopolitan city, visiting this fall and winter, and I can assure you I will not take them to the Merc Bar. Also, I do not want anyone to contact me from the Merc Bar even if they wanted to. I have no desire to do business with them. I wanted to post this review so others can determine if they want to do business with an establishment that conducts themselves the way the Merc Bar chooses to do business with local patrons.
