I have enjoyed eating the Lithuanian dark(aka black bread) for decades. It's great as a sandwich bread or with Polish Kielbasa as a side dish. It's also great as a buttered piece topped with slices of fresh garden tomatoes.
It's dense consistency and delicious taste leaves a lasting impression and fullness.
