Growing up in Highland Lakes, the General Store was a comforting constant, offering everything from a well-stocked hardware section to a deli with unforgettable sandwiches, especially my favorite bologna on a poppy seed kaiser. The Italian ice, with flavors like Chocolate Mousse and Watermelon, remains a nostalgic summer treat that my husband and I still seek out whenever we visit.

The Highland General Store is not just an old-fashioned general store in northern New Jersey, it is an experience. For over 30 years I have been lucky enough to live only 1/4 mile away. Everything from Keys made, hardware, deli, kitchen needs, frozen foods, household, grocery, newspaper, pet needs, lottery, large wine selection, beer, propane, 2 x 4s, fishing equipment, ice, Italian Ice, propane, snow thrower shear pins, salt, mulch, concrete bags, plumbing, electrical, landscaping etc etc etc amazing store. The HLG is the opposite of the mall stores in that the HGS has what you need and the malls have what you want.
