We went for lunch with another couple on a Monday. The place was crowded--maybe because they've won Best of DELCO many years in a row, including this year.
It's next door to Rep. Micozzie's office, near Baltimore Pike on Springfield Road in Clifton Heights--the Post Office is across the street and down just a bit.
Most people were ordering takeout so getting a table was easy. And the food was FABULOUS!
We live nearby but somehow hadn't been there before. We are all on special diets (it's called age...). I got Asian cold noodle salad with peanut sauce )no soy); Ed got a turkey burger (I think), with lettuce, tomato, etc. And a side of Marie's homemade red bliss potato salad. (low fat); Paul got a steak sandwich (no dairy)) with everything else on it!, plus a side of German potato salad.
And Bonnie got a tuna salad sandwich. We all raved about the food--and prices are modest--especially for those of us hurt by the economic meltdown!
Tonight it will be 90 degrees outside, so we're taking friends there for supper. (Our friend Richard helps us install our air conditioners and will never let us pay). And tomorrow night we'll do a takeout dinner for a friend who's coming over to consult with us about our book. THE FOOD IS SO DELICIOUS--fresh, much of it homemade. And any kind of bottled beverage (nonalcoholic) from coke and Pepsi to iced tea to green iced tea with mango to Dr. Pepper! I can't believe we've missed so many meals at the Clifton Deli, and intend to make up for them in 2009.
