Met a friend from out east for breakfast, and even though our food took a bit to arrive, the warm omelet, crispy toast, and homefries more than made up for it-plus, the friendly service and retro vibe with paper-hatted line cooks really took me back in time. This cozy, family-run diner nails down-home Dutch cooking with generous portions, unbeatable prices, and pies so good I'm seriously considering a weekly pilgrimage just for dessert.

Returning to Schwalms was a nostalgic experience, meeting a friend halfway for a midday meal. Despite the sparse crowd, service was friendly, and our breakfast was worth the wait. The cozy, old-fashioned atmosphere and delicious, affordable food make it a place I'll certainly revisit when in the area.
