What happened to me could happen to you!
Having finished my late lunch today at Pho 43, I headed back to my car. Twenty feet out of the door the waitress comes running after me yelling, “You not pay bill….. YOU NOT PAY BILL!” I replied, “Of course I did”, and then joined her back inside the restaurant. Now what I assume is her husband/owner becomes not so nice. REALLY not nice. Considering I was well-dressed, in my late fifties and driving a new car, I do not match the profile of a typical deadbeat. I again explained I had already paid immediately after I ordered, but he was not going to hear any of this story of mine. I fumble through my wallet looking for my receipt, but he yells, “YOU NO PAY SO YOU HAVE NO RECEIPT YOU PAY NOW. YOU HAVE NO RECEIPT”!!!!!!!!! This is repeated over and over and over quite loudly. This now starts to feel more like robbery and I just want to get out of there fast. Since maybe my first charge did not go through, I elect to pay again and then work with my credit card company when I get home. I did find my first receipt while I was still there, the owner inspected it and I left.
This is the question; was it their mistake or is this a scam? The easy test was to see if Pho 43 issued a credit or called the credit card company or decided to keep both charges. Well folks – two hours after the incident both charges were recorded on my account and no credit or call was received. It appears to be more of a police issue.
On top of this, the vermicelli noodles were over-cooked and one of the shrimp in my dish tasted spoiled.
Enjoy!
