I used to frequent Guadalajara Bakery on Washington Avenue in Houston during the early 80s for their satisfying tacos that worked wonders on a hangover. The unique hot sauce, rumored to contain jalapenos and dried shrimp powder, was a standout that I've tried to replicate without success. It's unfortunate that the bakery will soon be closing its doors, leaving behind a legacy of delicious, homemade Mexican cuisine that will be dearly missed by its loyal patrons.
