My friend and I went to Flipflops with no preconceived knowledge of the restaurant. We started with a shrimp cocktail which was very good. The serving bartender was young personable and attentive.
The décor was dusty looking but felt like a Florida key bar (since the sun was brightly coming through then front windows) with wooden blends and tropical plants. I was feeling like this little place could possibly be a new haunt.
Then the speedy trip downhill began. A girl came in sitting beside us at the bar. I offered to move over if she needed more room. She replied like a wise--ss saying she was sitting until her shift starts saving a seat for her bossowner. She didn't seem to be the type of person l'd want to be my waitress. Sadly 10 minutes later she was asking to take our dinner order. I whispered to my companion, don't order from her, wait for the young man to return, but she didn't hear me and began to order. We had the fish tacos and the glazed salmon. The tacos were good quality but no flavor. We asked for salsa or condiments. She brought a tiny silver cup of what looked to be salsa. That was as bland as the taco. No sour cream, avocado, or any cilantro flavor. The salmon was tasty but was overcooked in places making it chewy and dry. All this recipe needed was 3 min less cooking. We told the wise--ss girl who seemed like she was offended we were unhappy. We only wanted to let them know about our dissatisfaction to possibly to help them improve. But to no avail. After conferring with the young male bartender. We were informed there was nothing they could do since we ate it. We had left one of the taco trio untouched. And there was a quarter of the salmon (the driest parts) left on the plate. Most places make some kind of adjustment on the bill or offer a dessert. I assured the wise-ads girl we wanted nothing for free, we just wanted them to know about the issues we had. I guess most people just leave, never to return, but being in the restaurant business for years, we both thought even if they didn't care for criticism, we might help them the tiniest bit. There was no helping this crew. . We left an undeserved 23% tip (old habits die hard) for this $63.00 dollar bill. $80.00 total. We did met an old veteran at the very end of our visit and bought him a Coors. We bid the place a final farewell thinking this place needed better management, a watchful chef, more friendly staff (lose the attitude), and a good cleaning.

Stay away from this place! The only thing I trust consuming in this place is a bottle of beer but will never get the chance cuz I'm never going back.. I hope this place goes down in chapter 11 soon to make room for a business that cares about their customers satisfaction. And the dirty bar disgusted me. Gross place.

Ok here goes. We ordered lobster mac and cheese and steak tips. Got home opened mac and cheese and it reeks this gross fishy smell. I tried to take a bite and gagged and spat it out. My husband tastes his steak and spits his out for the dog. He said " taste that it doesn't taste right. and it doesn't. It's got a funky sweet taste, unlike any wine sauce I've tasted before. ANYWAY... call restaurant apologize a million times tell them I'm sorry but i can't eat it, that it tastes foul. he asked me what else can we make you.. i said NOTHING. he asks can we re-make this for you- NO. the mgr ( not the owner) replies- "come in and I'll take care of it for you". get there, mgr waiting at door. takes food from my hand. He offers me a drink from the bar and I said , no thank you I'm pregnant, I don't drink. he then said " i'll be back" comes back says there is nothing wrong with the food, the chef said so and can he please make me something else. I again reply, no. i just want my money. He tells me to wait for the chef to come out. 15 min later he comes out and says " the steak was just made last night and the lobster was fresh today" i tell him that's fine and dandy but it's very fishy smelling and it made me sick. the steak tips weren't good and left a foul taste in my mouth. They proceed to tell me they will give me a pizza and a gift card, i say again.. there is nothing else I want.. I'm pregnant your food made me sick i just want my money i'm getting irritated." he says no again and tells me all he can do is make me new food or give me a gift card. I proceed to now start getting angry and telling him his food sucks and made me sick and now after this incident I'm definitely not eating there. Like they won't do something to my food now! I am now swearing and getting pissed in their lobby and tell them i'm calling the police. I step outside to call police and to wait, trying not to be belligerent in their restaurant. Now 3 cruisers arrive!!!!!! the owner comes out and is basically smiling and laughing and said so sad, too bad. He doesn't have to do anything, he could care less. I told him his made me sick and the mgr implied he was refunding my money. Owner said that never happened... well if you offered me more food and a gift card over the phone and i say no.. what were you going to " take care of" when you told me to come down.. obviously that meant you would refund me like any normal restaurant. the police said " this isn't a police matter" again he keeps saying he doesn't need to do anything, i don't like it tough sh-t don't' come back. I told him he was a thief and obviously he needed the $40 that bad that he would steal it. he laughed said he didn't.. and then said he was no longer going to give me a gift card either. and that this should be a lesson to me.

The hostess was a sweetheart and I felt so sad for her having me ranting near her. The owner is a jerk who didn't care that he beat me outta $40. It's a shame that there is no integrity in business. He would give me a gift card but not just refund me. Not nice customer service. Not a nice human being.

can't find a star for this one; how about an "up" charge for drinks ordered with ice!!! I ordered a double dewars rocks for my anniversary go-with dinner(sirloin) and questioned should I be charged 2$ instead of a buck for the "overage" due to ice? How much blood is in those stones?
