I will start with a positive: great crab cakes, but at $10 apiece, they should have been.
I had the Brady's Flat Iron Steak Oscar (8oz. Seasoned Flat Iron Steak* "¢ topped with Dungeness Crab, Bearnaise Sauce Choice of Parmesan & Sour Cream Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes or Baked Potato Asparagus "¢ Microgreens) .
I wanted the baked potato, but they were "out" (at 5 pm). (!) What I was served: A big pile of mashed potatoes (about a cupful). with the steak presented sitting atop the potato mound. There was no asparagus, instead, what looked like grilled zucchini spears. The steak was tender and cooked properly, but was rather tasteless.
I have never had a steak presented atop mashed potatoes...is this an avant garde presentation that I am just not familiar with, or was the chef having a bad day? It seems rather tacky... and really, How do you run out of baking potatoes? Not to mention no asparagus nor any forwarning there was to be no asparagus.
Our meal tab for two of us came to $100. The Taprock is a beautiful place and the view of the river is terrific. Too bad the kitchen doesn't seem on par with the decor and the setting.
