REGAS is perfect for the "older" crowd rather than young people who are out for a nosiy place where crying children won't be a distraction. The interior is quiet and in good taste with a variety of seating arrangements and individual rooms for parties. My favorite spot is on the "stage" area behind the bar which is warm and tastefully decorated with a fireplace, upholstered furniture in an intimate environment. It is perfect for dinner for two or a group of 8 or 10.
The REGAS menu doesn't have much "flair" but is dependable with ordinary beef, chicken, pork and sides prepared for American tastes. I always order prime rib with mushroom and spinach sides and was disappointed only once when the cut of meat was anything but prime rib. The problem was graciously rectified. You can get real value arriving for the "early bird" special on week nights before 6 pm.
Unfortunately, the service at REGAS varies. Sometimes, we have a very professional server who makes you feel welcome and it is enjoyable to interact. Other times, the server can't get drink orders correct, seems hurried to get you out of the way and doesn't seem happy to be serving you. We have learned to always mention that we would like to have an experienced server when we go with a group.
REGAS is always our restaurant choice when attending plays next door at THEATRE KNOXVILLE. Combining the two makes for a delightful dinner/theatre evening, parking the car only once. I recommend REGAS and advise enjoying the free cheese and crackers with your drink as they usually are not willing to seat a group until everyone arrives.
