I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about. Sounds like he works at Sakura.

- We have been going to Edo for a long time and its food and service had been decent. Recently, they had lost their Vietnamese waitress and business was also down, therefore, they only kept two waitresses on the weekend nights. BIG mistake! Recently, with the article about them published on Commercial Appeal and their coming out with $5 coupons, they were still full at 8:30 p.m. on Friday nights. Each waitress had to serve 8-9 tables, beside serving they also had to clean up tables. In short, there were many dirty tables around while customers kept coming and were kept waiting. Customers ended up leaving because nobody would take care of them. We left one Friday night ourselves and went to the local Mexican Restaurant, El Mexico who was much faster and cheaper. (cost less than $20 for two people, including tips). It almost seems the boss of Edo no longer cares about his business because he had been trying to sell it and retire but there was no taker. The chefs worked for him wanted to take over the restaurant FREE and the boss is therefore just buying time. As a result, there are only 3 people working in the kitchen, orders of Sushi arrived late and some entree orders were incorrect because there were simply not enough helps inside the kitchen. Two waitresses ran around like crazy all night long and if you could get any services you would be lucky. I heard the Boss himself was washing dishes in the kitchen himself. If they do not hire any extra helps soon (at lease one extra waitress, one busboy/dish washer and one extra chef), I do not believe they would make it and will start losing customers again. If you must go there, be warned because it may be a long wait. Your better alternative will be Sakura restaurant in Germantown. They have six people who are making Sushi alone and they are fast. The prices and quality of their entrees are also better than that of Edo. Their Sushi are priced higher but bigger. Osake in Cordova will be a second choice.
