First went there about 20 years ago. Came back 3 years later, and Mike remembered me from our pleasant conversation. Only been back about 7 times, since it's a 9 hour drive from home. Took my wife paddling the Apostle Islands 4 years ago, and suggested a side trip to Mike & Jean's. "How far out of our way?" she asked. "Only 2 1/2 hours each way." She was game. After the visit, she tells everybody that drives within 3-4 hours of Marinette on a Friday night that it's worth the detour.

Don't look for haute quisine. It's just great fish, and greater people crowding the bar on Friday nights.
