Visiting from Abilene, I found the authentic Filipino dishes, like Palabok, Kare Kare, and Sinigang chicken soup, to be flavorful and freshly cooked to order, offering great value despite smaller meat portions. The friendly, family-run atmosphere adds to the experience, and the menu includes classic favorites such as Pancit, Lumpia, Tocilog, and Tinapasilog, all reminiscent of home-cooked meals. Although the dining area is modest and sometimes items sell out, the consistently fresh food and welcoming service make this a worthwhile dining option for Filipino cuisine in Lubbock.

Visiting from Abilene, my girlfriend, who is from the Philippines, thoroughly enjoyed the Palabok and Kare Kare, while I found the sinigang chicken soup to be delicious with its small meat portions and ample white rice, all at reasonable prices for freshly cooked dishes at this authentic mom and pop shop.

This restaurant has moved from West 19th to just inside the loop in the Yates Flooring area. The Chinese food is below average, I think -- especially the egg roll. But the Pancit and Lomein are very good. The restaurant takes credit cards now. Yes, things seem a bit overpriced -- hard to get in and out for less than $12, with a drink. But I will go again, and likely again.

I ordered the ampalaya con carne, a dish I hadn't tried before. When I ordered it the employee on the phone said I probably wouldn't like it, so I was a little wary prior to digging in. Turned out good, the bitter melon in the dish tastes like charred green bell peppers, my only complaint is that there wasn't much beef. Tasty, friendly staff, will be going back.
