Los Comales on E 7th St. is a hidden treasure on the East Side that deserves more recognition! Walking in feels like stepping into a cozy family kitchen, with generous portions of delicious, affordable Mexican dishes that hit the spot just right. The margaritas are a good deal at $12, even if a tad diluted, but the overall experience is a true taste of authentic, down-to-earth Mexican cuisine in Austin.

We recently held a rehearsal dinner for our son and his fiancí©. The owner (Merced Benitez) and his entire crew were absolutely fantastic to work with and were unbelievably accommodating. Our son is vegan and the restaurant staff came up with some incredible menu options for us that satisfied his menu requirements. His fiancí© is from Louisiana - so they created a grilled shrimp entree that had all the folks from Louisiana (including those of us from Texas) exclaiming how incredibly delicious they were. We had almost 80 people attend this event and it went off without any problems whatsoever. The margs and micheladas were outstanding as well. We highly recommend Los Comales to anyone!
