Growing up, I loved the original Monterey House restaurants and was thrilled to find one still operating exactly as I remembered, complete with the same decor and authentic Tex-Mex flavors that brought back so many memories. Although the salsa was a bit milder than I recalled, the friendly service and classic dishes like chile con queso and tacos made for a comforting and enjoyable meal that felt like a true trip down memory lane.

I grew up loving the original Monterey House restaurants in Houston and beyond, but the company went bankrupt and the concept was later revived as Monterey's. Walking into this particular location felt like a nostalgic trip back to the 1980s, with the original decor and logo still intact. The food was faithful to the flavors I remembered, and the service was friendly and efficient, making it a satisfying dining experience overall.
