As a Mary Wash grad, I never found Claiborne's to be a popular choice among my peers, but its unique location at the old Fredericksburg Rail station always intrigued me. During a recent visit, I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices compared to my expectations, although I was put off by the snooty attitude of the hostess when we arrived without a reservation. Overall, the ambiance exuded warmth and class, and the extensive menu offered a variety of options, though I didn't find it particularly reflective of traditional southern cuisine. The dishes we tried, including the Fried Catfish and pork tenderloin, were well-prepared and flavorful, making for a satisfying dining experience despite the lukewarm service.
