Located just off the freeway with minimal traffic, this old-school bar and grill offers fantastic fried chicken, tasty burgers like the Ooey Gooey, crispy tots, local ciders, stiff cocktails, a fun country vibe with pool and darts, friendly staff, and a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home, making it a reliable and enjoyable stop on the way between Seattle and Bellingham.

Just off the freeway, not much traffic comes through here, making it a nice pit stop for a burger and a drink while cruising up Old 99. The taps were out the day I visited, so drinks had to come from the cooler, but there were plenty of good options, including some local ciders. The burger was a bit more cooked than I like, but still tasty, especially with the crispy bacon.

Moved down to Alger 5 years ago. We used to get burgers & jo jo's from Tony's Tavern in Custer where we moved from. The only time we tried Alger Tavern, the fries tasted like fish. Maybe oil needed changed. I could never talk the wife into trying it again. I would like to try it again, but I would let management know about a bad experience that kept us away first.
