10/11/2009 - Dupont Living
The worst dining experience in 6 years of living in Washington DC.
The 20 minute wait after our reservations, the four people asked and 18 minutes waiter for lemon for the water, and the rude service was only the start. The sauteed calamari smelled fishy and was tough and simply completely inedible, the lobster bisque was more like watered soup flavored with lobster with 3 or 4 1/20teaspoon size pieces of processed lobster, the salmon was overcooked, and the chicken stuffed with spinach and cheese tasted like gym shoes. We (all 6 of us) were excited for dessert bc they had chocolate lava cakes, which we pre-ordered.
The waiter came over after the worst first 4 courses of our lives (two people didn't touch the food and were waiting for the rest of us to finish to go to Five Guys) to tell us they were out of the lava cakes (one left for the 6 of us). Instead we ordered chocolate cake - who can ruin a chocolate cake? Only Odeon.
The chocolate cake tasted like ammonia. It was dry and simply disgusting. The worst ever.
The only saving grace of this restaurant was that we felt like philanthropists after - we told the couple who sat down next to us to leave before they started - and they did. Good for them!
