I recently dined at Dairy King three times while staying at Lake Charles State Park. The Catfish dinner, burgers, and salads were all delicious. The service, provided by Bella, was consistently friendly and attentive. I would recommend Dairy King for a satisfying meal in the area.

Some waitresses there are great some of the younger ones not so much

The food is great, but no matter how good the food was nothing could make up for the laziness of the waitress. I thought I knew what bad service was, until I ate here. It was absolutely insane. My wife and I were there for an hour and a half. There were 2 tables of 4 and us. I received 3 refills on coffee in 90 minutes. Tables were filthy. Our waitress basically sit at a table of her friends and talked the whole time. I will NEVER step foot in there again.

Sufficient to say, many aren't traveling to Portia to eat. Most of us are just going through Portia on 63 (watch your speed there!). But you shouldn't pass through town without stopping for an old fashioned dipped cone or a few pieces of some fried catfish. You'd be doing yourself and those with you an injustice. Their soft serve, especially, is DELICIOUS!
