It saddens me to make this poor review
After many years of excellent food and service

With respect to the waitress - it appeared she was not an experienced waitress - and certainly not well trained in the basics of fine-dining service protocols.

The meal was underwhelming.
My wife had the carbonara
She said the chicken tasted "boiled" (not baked) so much so she did not eat the chicken -- and the carbonara sauce appeared to be an alfredo sauce with some salted pork and peas thrown in. That is not a carbonara sauce.

My daughter had the lamb. Something she very much looks forward to each visit. The balsamic sauce tasted as if it has not been cooked down long enough - leaving a harsher vinegar taste rather than the smooth tasting sauce.

The bread
That was cut up ciabatta sandwich rolls
This is not the first time that the kitchen ran out of bread-rolls for dinner service

The waitress?
I had to ask for the bread
The drinks from the bar came out after we were served dinner - even though we order drinks at the same time as dinner
The bar was slower than the line?

The "dirty" martini was a 'regular' martini
(not sure if waitress wrote it down wrong or the bar got it wrong)
When we noted that to the waitress
It appeared the bar merely topped off the existing martini with some olive juice rather than making a new one
The glass had a chip in it
This time - I personally walked the glass back to the bar
This time - he did re-make it - but in my opinion - this was not really a dirty martini

The waitress brought my daughter a birthday ice cream sundae -
But
Left all of the dirty plates on the table
Even after she served the ice cream
Very bad
And she only had two other tables - so not busy

It was not until the meal was complete did she ever come to ask how the meal was
There were other service protocol errors as well

But for me to have to get up from the table three times - twice to ask for something from the waitress and once to take the drink back to the bar

I should really never have the need to get up and seek out the waitress
I suspect you would agree
