El Charro has been my go-to Mexican joint for decades, serving up classics like shredded beef tacos loaded with fresh cheese and guacamole that never disappoint. The chili verde packs a spicy punch, but a side of sour cream tames it perfectly, and the warm chips with salsa feel like a warm hug from an old friend. Despite its humble, old-school vibe and just one hardworking waiter, the food flies out fast, the drinks are solid, and the vibe always makes me feel right at home.

I've been a regular at El Charro for decades and it always surprises me how many locals haven't experienced its delicious Mexican cuisine. The service, handled by the same dedicated man for as long as I can remember, is consistently excellent. One of my favorite dishes is the chicken taco - not the usual Tuesday special, but the standard one with generous cheese and fresh guacamole.
