We've lived in Sonoma 25 years and always bemoaned the lack of Chinese food. The we found Shanghai. It's not fancy (ala Berkeley or the City which has some spectacular restaurants ) but it is good, good ingredients (bought in Chinatown in SF on chef's day off!) lovely people, nice ambience, quiet, very responsive to special orders, family owned business for many many years. And you can get a good meal for under $15, which is unusual these days. It's our second home. Norma Barnett

we have lived in Sonoma all our lives and decided to give Shanghai restaurant a try.. SO,SO bad!! the sweet and sour pork and lemon chicken tasted so old and hard, and that was with the sauce on the side! We couldn't eat the pot stickers due to unknown taste that turned us off from eating them. The chow main and fried rice had no flavor. i would never go back or would i recommend this restaurant to anyone! what a wasted $50.00!!!
