To be quite frank, I would never recommend this establishment for any function, especially weddings. My spouse and I rented the Carriage House Restaurant for our wedding in October of 2008 and our experience with them was nothing shy of a nightmare. We perpetually had to pester the staff for a contract, which we did not receive until a few months before the event. To make matters worse, it was merely a photocopied version of the notes the head chef had made during our initial meeting. Likewise, our attempts to obtain a menu proved equally futile (we did not learn of about the official carte du jour until the actual wedding day). Furthermore, when we planned the event over six months prior to the date, we were guaranteed the facilities until midnight. Two weeks prior to our wedding, we received word that we could not have the restaurant until this time due to a contract the establishment had with the local residents (a point no one bothered to mention to us as we were planning the event or in the months following). My attempts to explicate our concerns over this to the supervisor proved useless, in turn, and our party was literally kicked out of the restaurant shortly after ten o’clock that evening. As I write this, it has been over nine months since I filed my formal complaint with the establishment’s superiors for a refund of those lost two hours and I have yet to hear back from them. Therefore, my advice to any happy couple planning their special day is to avoid this business completely. Our imbroglio should not be inflicted upon anyone else.
