Arriving early is key since seating is open and the sushi, shrimp cocktail, and martinis are incredible, with dishes like ahi tuna Caesar salad, scallops, lobster rolls, and Korea BBQ scallops offering unforgettable flavors complemented by outstanding service from staff like Josh and Kelsey, making every visit-whether for family dinners, date nights, or business meals-a consistently delicious and welcoming experience despite the lively atmosphere and occasional wait.

Blew my mind!

Wasn't what it used to be. Went a while back and it was OK but on our last 3 visits it was far less than acceptable; food was next to inedible and for the expense you would expect a far superior experience. Seems to be living on a reputation it may have earned at the beginning but has long since past. Lacks what a truly fine eatery should have and has joined the dime a dozen bistro list that we will not frequent again nor recommend, quite the opposite; we will warn against it.

I agree with Payton, 3 strikes and your OUT. Don't waste your time!

Exceptional food. Live piano music is very nice but the place can get a bit loud during more popular times. Outside sitting is nice during the warmer parts of the year. Definitely pricey but I've always had a great meal there.

NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL.. I VISITED SURF BEFORE AND IT WAS JUST OK BUT THIS TIME IT WAS NO GOOD THE FOOD WAS BLAH AND THE SERVICE WAS VERY SLOW AND NOT THAT FRIENDLY. THE DECOR WAS JUST TO PLAIN AND NOTHING CAUGHT MY EYE, NOT WORTH THE TRIP.

nice bar too small & crowded on weekends, the bathrooms are out in a public building hallway really wierd. Food OK good presentaion, small on portions, prices high. Raw bar rocks.

The food was decent, not special. Portions on the small side, price was high for what you get. Not much choice in the area for seafood, but I'd try somewhere else next time.

Wonderfully fresh seafood of all sorts prepared with great attention to detail and the nature of the food. Always a consistent product, so if you find a favorite keep ordering it...however, it's a great menu to explore. Raw bar is a beautiful presentation and the great entrees aren't the only stars. Innovative and delicious salads (try fried tomato and bacon salad!) and unusual desserts. Had an icecream made with Guiness stout a while back. Potato-encrusted haddock stands out as a signature dish as far as I'm concerned. Very professional, knowledgeable and helpful staff and servers. Understated decor that makes for relaxing dining and socializing...even the pianist strikes the perfect note. A private party at Surf is truly memorable. It's honestly a gem downtown... always impeccable fresh seafood served and prepared with style. Choices for meat eaters, too...but who would want to miss out on such a great array of fish? Friendly bar service while you wait for a table, comfortable attractive seating, and conversation is possible as the high ceilings promote a sense of air and space that's pleasant. Can't remember if they take reservations, so get there early and prepare to enjoy!
