This restraint is over priced for quality of food. Food is inconsistent and under seasoned. It's a place where you can roll the dice on. May be OK one day and nasty the next.

Nasty food and even nastier manager. Have no clue how this hateful rude woman, Kaylan, Kayla, whoever, keeps her job. Food gets 1 star.....Manager receives negative 50.

I love this place. I have never had a bad bite of anything here and the people are always nice and portions are very generous. It is not a fancy resturant but has that down home feel to it. We go there all the time.

Food tasted good, all of us got sick after

We are regular customers and we pass several other seafood places which are more convenient and more "upscale" to get to Pirates Table. We LOVE the food (Calabash style fried seafood) and the family atmosphere. Don't be disuaded by some of the naysayers' remarks on this site. It's "honest food at honest prices".

Food isn't good enough to over come managements aditude.

Disgusting. Now I know why the parking lot is always empty.

Didnt want to give it one star. You people should be ashamed to serve hardworking people this garbage.

Do not eat here!!!!
Did not taste like Calabash Seafood
Terrible Awful
The pirates table, more like the pirates toilet! Over priced and tasted like reheated frozen food. Don’t get the stuffed flounder; it was more like a flounder roll filled with table scrapes from days before. Moreover I could not be more disappointed and disgusted with my meal; I bet I can get better seafood from the
Dumpsters at something fishy.

Had not been here in about 10years. My extended family wanted to go so I figured we would try it even though after reading the reviews. This used to be the place to go. I ordered choice of two scallops and crab cakes with french fries and green beans. If you like perfectly rounded frozen boxed scallops you will like these. I didnt. My crabcakes were burned on the outside and uncooked on the inside. The fries were good. Mom ordered the fried flounder plate. Flounder was not cooked and full of bones. Sister ordered fried clam strips, they were chewy. By the way, I got 5 scallops and two crab cakes and a handful of fries...more like a kids portion for 10.99. The hushpuppies were greasy. I will not be going back.

Awesome lunch specials $4.95 you choose one entree and 3 sides. Great service.

If you like a mouth full of fish bones, rude service and over paying for a meal this is the place for you. On our wedding anniversary we decided to eat here and were sadly disappointed with the wait service that seemed untrained and socially awkward, flounder full of tiny bones and over breaded popcorn shrimp that the MANAGER argued was small shrimp when the menu just reads shrimp. Your On the beach for God's sake people wake up! I know the difference between small shrimp and popcorn shrimp. Over priced and awful all the way around.

The Menu is incorrect. Please check us out on Facebook for correct prices.

Great food. They are a little gruff...but I am not there to make friends. I am there to eat good food. I would go back. Best hush puppies ever. Large portions. Delicious grilled chicken sandwich.

i really dont know what has happened to this place.....i was in there 2 days ago... i always think of the plates my dad would bring my mom after hed gotten off from work... ive loved eating there every 4ever. well, its just not the same anymore. the kitchen staff seems rude and impatient, i ordered shrimp and scallops, with 2 sides. wow my 4 year old could have eaten it and asked 4 more... smh... just not the same

Wow! what has happened to this place. The portions have decreased, but the price has not. The food use to be the best in this area not ANYMORE!

They don't know how to answer their phone so i can't review it...try something fishy...it's pretty good

review_stars 10/03/2008 - MenuPix User
The food was alright...portions have definitely been decreased while the prices have not changed. Also, God forbid you complain about anything. The manager will not talk to you (I thought that was the manager's job) but leaves it for the cashier. Please do not waste your time or your money.

I enjoy their hush puppies and fried flounder. The iced tea and deserts are pretty good, too. Service is pretty good. The atmosphere is bland, but cozy. Yeah, they're not very flexible in your side choices, though.

HORRIABLE FOOD , SERVICE , ETC.

Stopped here one night after work - and really enjoyed the food. The hush puppies were good and they refilled our little basket frequently. I ate there w/ my husband and oldest daughter - and all three of us were very happy w/ the food & service. It is a bit over priced for the atmosphere...it is very informal...but the prices weren't! :-)
Good place to eat - nothing fancy - just good food.

I called the Pirates table to get a take out order for the pirates platter, but did not want the specified items on the menu. I was told it could not be altered. The lady on the phone said I could get the choice of 4 instead. I said that was OK and hung up. I thought about it and called backed. I told her I wanted to get the choice of 4 and wanted 2 fried shrimps and 2 fried oysters. She refused. Confused I asked why when I chose 4 items. She said that they would not allow me to order 2 orders of oysters because they are more expensive. I told her the menu did not specify that items could not be doubled, she got rude so I hung up. I went in to the restaurant that evening with a copy of the menu and she still refused. I asked to speak with the manager. She said he was busy and I told her I did not mind waiting until he was free. He came out of the kitchen behaving very hostile. He asked me " What did you want'. I tried to explain but he cut me off and said" NO why can't you understand that". I told him he was being rude and he yelled at me "No you are being rude". He said I am very busy and I do not have time to come out here. I told him I had told the lady I would wait until he was free. He turned away from me and yelled at me again ( infront of Patrons) that I was rude.

Now what I do not understand is this:
so oyster are more expensive. The menu says choice of 4 and has stipulations about having more than 1 of the same item. What if I had ordered 4 servings of shrimp. Would I have gotten a discount for not ordering one of the expensive items. I think not. Choice of 4 is what the menu said and that is what I wanted. Obviouly this restaurant does not stand by their menu and their staff does not know how to give acceptable customer service.

For $18 I got a choice of 4 which amounted to 6 shrimp, 4 oysters, 1 small piece of flounder and about 8 clam strips. That would have been ok if it was good food, but it was terrible - greasy, undercooked and luke warm. I have been coming here for years and it used to be a great. Now the prices are too high and the food stinks. What happened? After eating here for over a decade, I will not be going back.

Great food, great service, no frills atmosphere. Definitely reccomend if your hungry.

The fries were undercooked and cold... I didn't get a replacement until I had finished my flounder and slaw....

An average place for a less than acceptable meal... we will not be back.. to may other good places in Wilmington to eat.

I went to this restaurant a few years ago with my sister who lives in Atkinson NC, I am from New York ,I returend this summer 8/27/07- 9/5/07 I bugged her for months we have to go back to Pirates table . To my dissapointment their was no fried okra on the Menu. Sad face! It was okra season and the fried mushrooms did not compare to the okra , too much hot grease inside them I could have goten third degree tongue burns.

My sister loves this restaurant but she thinks serving vegetables in paper bowls is really tacky considering the prices you are charging for a meal are not cheap. She thinks Pirates table could at least use ceramic dishes when serving customers.

She of course will be back she loves the fried scallop.

As for myself I will not be back until the okra is back on the menu.

Keep up the good work Pirates Table.....

review_stars 08/14/2007 - I guess what you don't know...
...can't hurt you.
Don't eat here, it's disgusting in so many ways. Trust me.

This is a local strip-mall gem. The restaurant is staffed by friendly folks who know how to keep the hush puppies and sweet tea coming. It's a no-frills dining experience, but the menu is varied enough to please even those who are seafood-intolerant. You can have it fried, broiled, or specially prepared. They have fantastic-looking homestyle desserts that I have never been able to hold. This is where the home folks go out to eat.

This isn't a bad little place for Calabash style seafood. Food was a little greasy for my taste. Service was excellent. Portion size is good. My partner and I split a seafood platter and were stuffed for about 20 bucks total.
