This seems like under new ownership Place is beautifully renovated and food quality is superb.

The food has been very good at all of these Udipi Bhavans over the years. The Lowell and Nashua have provided excellent service as well. On one occasion they even made at our request an item that was not on the menu.

The first time I tried Udupi, I was hooked. Since I am not very knowledgeable in Indian Cuisine I asked the staff what they would recommend for an Indian Newbie. They recommended Spring Dosai and Samosas. I have had saag paneer and veg samosas before. I am also very familiar with Curries, but their spring Dosai...OMG!For about a month after I had it, I could taste it and was craving it. Everything was fresh and cooked to order. Even if you aren't vegetarian or vegan, its a great way to try something new and eat healthy. Check them out! You won't be disappointed!

i am surprised by the very diverse opinions here. We have been a number of times and find the food to be excellent and the restaurant clean(though very unappealing/ bland in decor) and the one main server(slightly balding, maybe in his 40's, to be very nice and helpful, w/ good English. For So. Indian food we eat both at Priya and UB. UB has far better rava dosa and masala dosa and pesarat and malabar adai(we've not seen this dish anywhere else.) we also particularly recommend the avial, vegetable cutlet and kheer.

the advantage at priya is the inclusion of chicken dishes on their sun. buffet but in general, i prefer the taste of UB's food.

This was our first time eating Indian food. The service was excellent, they helped us choose food that would be best for people new to the Indian cuisine. This paired with great tasting food and respectable prices, has opened our eyes to a whole new pallet of tastes. Well deserved 5 stars, will be returning.

The Restaurant has lost its quality since 2007. The food has become so bad. We ordered Bindi Masala and upma and it was utterly horrible. They use oil that was used for frying to make their curries. I got the left overs of the fried food in my Bindi masala!!!!!! Would never go there ever again.

I loved the food there, i am usually pretty picky but it was very good, surprisingly pretty well priced. The waiters were nice and the service was pretty good. I appreciated the attention we got from them and they made sure that we were always happy. I was fully satisfied upon leaving the place. Will definitely be going back soon.

I go here at least once or twice a month with my boyfriend (and have been doing so for several years) and I have always found the waiters to be nice and friendly. The place is also very clean the food fresh. (I'm actually really surprised to hear reviewers saying otherwise; I've never seen any rude behavior at all.)

The masala dosa is nice and crispy and exactly like the dosa I've eaten in India. The tomato and chilli uttapam is also wonderful, as is the chilli bhaji (if you like heat). Oh, and the thali is great...with extra papads of course. I could go on and on...

Food is good but .....Waiters are rude. ....Ambience sucks ! Long waiting times ...Quite a dirty place.

Very hostile staff. Very bad treatment if you want to go service. They will serve water after that just let them know that you need to go service and they will take water jug along with them. Even they will ask you to stand outside. It was quite embarrassing. What I feel is that staff needs a good training.

I'm from Tamil Nadu, South India and Udupi's food (Lowell) made me sick. Maybe they're cooking the food in low quality oil , i don't know. The taste was really lacking - the sambar was runny because of not enough lentils and the chutney was cold. I ordered pakora and got bhajji instead. So disappointed - won't ever go back.

Great food. Great prices. (I wish that the host would be a tad bit more friendly but this is something I can live with.)

I am an "Anglo" who loves Indian food. I have over 100 Indian cookbooks and have visited every Indian restaurant I could find, from Maine to Florida, NYC to LosAngeles. The 3 best for me were all call "Udupi...", named from the city Udipi on the Southwest coast of India, known for Gujarati food. South Indian food is were it's at. Most Indian restaurants are Northern style. From the South, order Chat, Dosais, pakoras, pickles, sweets. Very good, clean and inexpensive.

The food here is great even if you're used to having meat with every meal the great tast makes up for it. I always get a lot of food for a great price. Highly recommended!!!

Excellent South Indian veggie food. Friendly staff. A bit lacking in ambience but who cares when the food is this good and such good value.
