I had dinner with three friends at the new XO on Saturday night, July 2, 2011. The service was extremely slow, a problem that I had had with the old Cafe Noir. We arrived at 8:15 PM and a drink order was taken about 10 minutes later. The drinks did not arrive for nearly another 30 minutes. We ordered entrees about 9:00 and the entrees did not arrive until after 10:00. Problems with the bar and the kitchen?? The food was very good but the wait for it was unreasonable and will be a consideration in any future reservation. I eat out 3 to 4 times per week, (Blaze, Red Stripe, Siena, Zooma, Prime, Flemings, Gracies, Cafe Nuovo) and never wait that long for food and/or drink.

Also, it was a Waterfire night but that is no excuse for bad service. A restaurant should be able to resonably serve food and drink when full. Isn't that after all the restaurant's goal, to be full. (In fact there were a few empty tables at the time that we were there.)

I had this problem with the old Cafe Noir and hoped that staffing changes would be made at the new XO that would eliminate the long wait for food and drink. The restaurant needs staff training and restaurant and kitchen management training. The manager was not paying attention to the details of what was happening in the dining room.

As to the bar, the bartenders were clearly paying much more atention to the people eating at the bar than to the service bar for the restaurant. The unavoidable conclusion is that they were working harder on tips for which they kept a higher percentage than doing thier jobs properly.

One more try, then if there is not substantial improvement, the restaurant is off the list.

My daughters and a group of friends are going to the restaurant next weekend. Let's see how things go.

Food is amazing! How could you complain when you are eating local farm fresh foods made by a Chef who knows how to create a beautifully delicious meal. The redesign is lively and inviting and the new drink menu has some fantastic martinis:)
If you want a fabulous meal that tastes heavenly. go to XO Cafe!

OVERPRICED!!! The winelist is way too expensive, my steak was mediocre, and the rest of the meal was just OK. Not worth it.

Steaks are delicous every time we come here. It's a great go to for a special occasion. A bit pricey, but steaks are very good. Great martini's (but aren't they all).

As for dessets - they are listed first on the menu if that tells you anything. Creme brulee is yummy.
