We just recently had a rehearsal dinner at the Common Man for 16 people in the Tach Room. We had folks with various food restrictions in the party and all were accomodated. The meal and service were excellent. Sean and Joe were the waiters. Would highly recommend this restaurant!!

went to the Commonman in Windham for the sunday brunch; AWFUL!!! save your money; the food; which there was not much of; was cold; pans were never full; usually 12 to 14full; the so called carving station had a slab of roast beef on it that looked and tasted like it was from the night before; waffles were kept warm under the carvng station in a drawer and were cold. Worse brunh ever; the so-called choloate fountain looked like something you would use at a shower; not a brunch. We will never go back again; we usually go to the brunh at The Old Salt Box in Hampton; it is the best around; Commonman should go and get some pointers; The Old Salt gets 5++++++++stars!!!!even 1 star is being generous! choices very limited! what is a brunch without pancakes; french toast and an omlettte station?

First of all, the fireplace in Windham is lovely, but it was 47 degrees out on Saturday night, and the fireplace was raging. We were sitting near it and had lost 10 pounds from perspiring by the time we left. Other highlights of the evening:

1) Free crackers/cheese was the best feature about this restaurant
2) Noisy
3) Bread basket served "just enough" thinly-sliced bread for the 4 individuals in our party
4) Ordered the (very salty) French Onion Soup for an appetizer
5) My prime rib had a "peppered" sauce on it that I believe was created to choke someone--and that's exactly what it did. Before trying my beef, I tasted a bit of the sauce on the end of my fork; the black pepper that was camouflaged into the sauce stuck in my throat, and I gagged for about 60 seconds until I consumed enough water to put out the fire. Eyes tearing and throat raw, I politely asked the waitress if I could get another piece of prime rib without the sauce--she begrudgingly took back my well-done piece and returned 30 seconds later with a replacement serving of beef that was still breathing on the plate. Needless to say, my appetite was ruined by then.
6) Dessert took 3 tries before they got it right for one of the individuals in our party--the waitress even brought the wrong dessert TWICE!
And all of this enjoyment for only $95/couple! I believe a second look at your waitstaff and overall management of the Windham location is in order. Thank you.

I am a big fan of the Common Restaurant family. My daughter and son-in-law took us there last night for dinner and I have to say for the first time ever I was extremely disappointed in the meal I had. I usually get either fillet or the uncommon steak and it has always been excellent. Last night, however, my uncommon steak was horrible. I could only eat a tiny piece as is was like chewing leather. My husband who also never complains agreed. I did not make a big deal about it because my daughter would have been embarrassed. It also came to me cut in several pieces, I asked for it medium and it came medium rare. Just thought I would let you know. I will think twice about bringing friends there again. And while I am on a roll I just also wanted to let you know that at Christmas time I went to your restaurant several times to get gift certificates and noone was there. I would think at that time of year you would have someone there on the weekends from noon on. All three times I was there other people (several each time) were trying to do the same. I was planning on purchasing 4 $75.00 certificates.

My wife and I visited the Common Man in Windham last night (3/7/09). Important: If you want to avoid the typical 1 1/2 to 2 hour wait on a Sat night, call ahead and put yourself on the call-ahead list. We called 40 minutes ahead and only waited 5 minutes once we arrived to get a table.

The new layout of the restaurant is very nice. Cozy, comfortable and inviting but if you are looking for a nice quiet relaxing evening out this is not the place. It was LOUD in there! It's a much better place to go with a group of friends/family.

Once we were seated we ordered some drinks and received the complimentary bread basket about 10 minutes later. In the basket we found 2 pieces of white bread and 2 pieces of nut bread.

After consuming the bread in a few minutes we ordered the crab cake appetizer. Supposedly the crab cake has earned the Common Man a NH food award. I have only one question: Where's the crab? I couldn't taste any crab in the cake we ordered and the portion size for the $7.99 price was ridiculous. We were starving....

For entrees I ordered the pot roast and my wife ordered the uncommon steak. Her steak was certainly uncommon....it was dry and gritty with absolutely no flavor. What a joke! I cook much better steaks on the grill at home! My pot roast was OK, but the portion size was small. A small dab of beat-to-death mashed potato's and squash sat beside a few small pieces of meat. We complained about my wife's steak and they provided us with a complimentary order of pot roast. Guess what? It was cold on the inside. We didn't say anything at this point because we were so upset with the quality of food.

We decided to give desert a try and orderd the chocolate cake and homemade ice-cream, both were delicious. At least the dessert hit the spot.

This is the second time we visited the CM and the 2nd time were left feeling very disappointed. What is all the hype about? Am I missing something?

Don't know where Peter is from but we go here almost every month and Love this place. Its been closed all summer for renovations and we can't wait for it to reopen. Everything this place offers is excellent but it is a very busy place on the weekends so if your looking for really fast service maybe try McDonalds. If you want a really good homestyle dinner with many seasonal options at a reasonable price try the Common Man. My favorite is Turkey Dinner but they only have it on Sunday.

Food over cooked. Service very slow and when we complained to the manager we were blown off like a mosquito. Nice atmosphere but not worth the money (over priced). Service not very customer friendly.

The Sunday Brunch here is the best in the area. Delicious omelets and waffles made to order, plus a great buffet lineup, carving station, and chocolate fountain. The decor is rustic and homey, and the servers are friendly.
My wife and I love Sunday Brunch and have been to a number of places in the area, but we keep coming back to Common Man.
