The food was delicious! And the injera was better than most places. The Ayib Be Gomen appetizer is delicious.

Wonderful, fresh, fabulous food! This restaurant serves fresh, home made delicious food. Vegetarian options are fantastic. Service is nice, helpful, warm, prompt. Amazing, fun meal.

I was looking for a local Ethiopian restaurant and found this one. My family and I went on Saturday night and LOVED it!
Not much for atmosphere, but the food and service were outstanding. This was the third Ethiopian restaurant experience that I've had and Abyssinian really knows what they're doing! I was also impressed that the chef came out and explained somethings about the food to us and shared some additional spices with us to try on our already magnificent dishes!
Thank you, Abyssinian, for a fantastic meal! I only wish you were open for lunch, so I could experience it anytime I wanted.

Just had an amazing dinner. It was so much fun eating with our hands and scooping up all the yummy veggies, lentils, and chicken. Love the "Teff crepe" Highly rec it.

A friend and I had dinner at Abyssinian last night around 7:30pm. When we walked in there were 3 or 4 other tables. We were seated and after about 20 mins our server came over to take our drink and food order. The server was very friendly but there were multiple menu items that were not available. The food arrived shortly after ordering and was tasty. Our server dropped the check before we had ordered dessert. Being that you eat with your hands I was expecting some warm towels to clean up after the meal but they were not provided.

Probably the best ethiopian food I've had, great vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, nice, casual, atmosphere, good service, and very affordable menu. One of my favorite places in Hartford.

Abyssinian has become a family favorite. A great place for vegitarians and meat eaters alike. Whether a lentil, meat or fish dish the food is full of flavor. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the staff is tentative and friendly.

My first experience with Ethiopian food. The food was excellent, along with the service and atmosphere...they had Ethiopian jazz music playing in the background. Well worth the trip, you won't be dissappointed.
The only criticism I have was the lack of parking. Other then that, it's definitely now one of my favorite restaurants!

Great, consistent food among the best Ethiopian I've had in the northeast. The family who runs this restaurant is exceptionally friendly and accomodating who are happy to make recommendations and make the experience of trying a new cuisine a fun experience. This is a restaurant where the proprietors actually care about your experience and want you to leave happy, unlike the factory-like chain restaurant experience people have come to take for granted.

Family owned restaurant, clean and simple decor, very friendly & eager to please staff, excellent ethnic food, authentically served without flatware. (Steamy towels are thoughtfully provided at the end of the meal.)

Prices are moderate, portions large, soft music, calm atmosphere. A good place to casually linger over conversation with friends.

The only down sides are that the parking in the area is difficult, and here's no honey wine available yet.
