this place tries too hard. i just moved to the hartford area from chicago and was hoping to find a restaurant that could rival what i was used to near the hospital. the menu lacks imagination, service was spotty and the manager was fake. had the grand marnier salmon, overcooked, the crab cake appetizer, cold, and a bottle of wine, which was decent enough. i'll stick to vito's.

I have been to J restaurant bar three times and each time was great. The service is always great, the waiters are very helpful.They seem to like their jobs, I went last night and one waiter was conversating with a regular like an old friend. I had the spicy fried calamari and it was excellent. I would recommened anyone go there for a great meal, great service and non-intimidating atmosphere.

if you must visit this place, stick to the bar and then head up to first and last for an enjoyable dining experience. went for lunch the other day, the server was indifferent and the food was nothing to write home about. the place tries to hard with the waterfall (what is this, a spa?) and overdone dishes (with an apparent obsession with asparagus, which is unoriginally paired with just about every entree). i was disappointed, had high hopes, but luckily, real restaurants like dish and trumbull kitchen are close enough that i can avoid this place from now on.
